28 weeks

This kid is having a growth spurt. I have suddenly become quite a bit larger, quite a bit quickly. We're in New York City and I have been trying to keep up with my pre-pregnancy self, walking hours each day and paying for it each night with sore muscles and tired legs. Eventually I will learn to take it easy, but it's hard when you're used to being fit and active. It's hard to learn to rest. Today is our last day here, though, and I am going to take it slow.

Here's a pic Jay took last night. I love it. I look like an hourglass.

Our friend Rachel is sending us home with a huge suitcase filled with hand-me-downs from her beautiful 18-month son, Jett. So generous. And very stylish, to boot.

We have our next midwife appointment in a few days. I have been feeling great. My congestion seems to have eased a bit, but I fear that what's actually happening at home is an allergy to our cats. At our friend Julia's house, where we stayed first during this trip, there are no cats and I was sleeping through the night except for getting up to pee. It was bliss. Here at Rachel's, there is one cat and I wake with congestion, but it doesn't keep me up like it was keeping me up at home. If the cats are the culprits, I'm working on the assumption that the allergic reaction will cease once our mystery man is born. I've heard that women's bodies sometimes change in unpredictable, permanent ways with the birth of their children. Let's hope this is not one of those changes. I love our kitties.
