Two goals

It is so freaking cold outside that I have a difficult time getting up the chutzpa to layer up myself, layer up the boy, drag the jogging stroller out of the basement, set up the wind/rain shield to protect said boy, and subject myself to a skin-numbing run. It wouldn't even feel bearable for at least 20 minutes. And trying to go to the gym on the regular is wildly more difficult that I anticipated. It is seldom that Jay is home, the boy doesn't need to be fed, my last meal is at least an hour past, and I'm not too tired to put up with the damn treadmill for 40 minutes. So.

I have purchased a terrific yoga practice from Amazon direct, to play on my Roku box. It is sufficiently difficult and interesting, and has two parts: the primary hour-long vinyasa-style practice and a shorter core series. I am sore. It feels so good.

Therefore, goal #1: To practice yoga at home 3-4 times per week. Before I got pregnant I was doing yoga at least twice per week and I felt so strong and balanced.

Looking forward to feeling physically better, I have a second goal oriented toward the mental and emotional self. The wonderful Joanna Goddard posted today about a resolution that she and her friend are attempting for the modest and attainable period of one week: no complaining.

Therefore, goal #2 (perhaps more difficult than goal #1): To not complain for the next week. It's difficult sometimes, when you're not well rested and your dissertation is not going anywhere and you can't find time to work out and the cat is pulling the threads out of your new sweater, to not complain. See? Wish me luck.

And finally, because I just can't stop smiling when I see this photo:

  1. Great photo!!!!
I had forgotten to keep up with your blogs. They are such fun to read. I think the "no complaining" was still in effect on my last visit. Anyway, I thought I noticed you seemed happier.....
