Lashes and Lingerie

Finally, the lashes. The fine lady at the M.A.C. store steered me away from the $12 fake eyelashes and advised me to swing by Walgreen's and pick up a pair for $4. She said that she's had great luck with the cheapo pairs, as long as they're made with real human hair (!). I wanted some that weren't quite as long and dramatic as the pair I currently own - they look a little 60s go-go-girlish. This is what I ended up with, and I think they'll look great:

I already own the adhesive and I've worn fake lashes a few times already, so this addition to my makeup bag should be an easy enhancement for the big day. Plus, they're just so dang fun to wear.

On the makeup tip: I tried my wedding makeup plan last night. For a girl who has never used more than two eyeshadow colors at once, working with four colors and a cream base was intimidating. It turned out great. I'll practice a few more times to see if I can get it to look even better, but I could have gotten married last night and I would have looked fabulous.

And now, lingerie. I went out shopping with my gal Rachel last night, in search of some sexy little things to wear on the honeymoon. We went to Victoria's Secret, where Rachel found a super cute two-piece set and I found absolutely nothing that I loved enough to pay $70 or whatever. For one thing, why are all of their bras lined or padded? What the hell ever happened to showing a little nip? There were only a few sheer versions in the store and they were all in the "everyday" (read: boring) section. I also tried on some sassy baby-doll sets, but none of them showed off my waist and I felt rather like a plum, or a potato. Not good at all. So I left and decided to go to Target where the options are cheap and plentiful. I will be heading there this afternoon. Wish me luck.

The second part of my mission last night was to find the perfect dress for the rehearsal dinner. By perfect I mean sassy, colorful, not too sexy, and under $70. We went to H&M and Urban Outfitters and...nothing. The stuff at H&M was either too cheap-looking (thin cotton, t-shirt material, etc.), too sexy, or too professional. I found one really, really cute dress but it had a straight skirt and, of course, it didn't fit right in the hips. If I ever take you shopping with me for pants, you will quickly learn that to have a small waist and a generous booty is a burden that designers everywhere refuse to acknowledge exists. Shopping for pants makes me mad.

But I digress. At Urban Outfitters, everything was too short and playful. By short, I mean mid-thigh. Pretty short. So, again, I will look at Target. Sounds lame, but some of my cutest dresses hail from that warehouse of goodness. Why fix what's not broke?

Today: Target.
