Classes are officially over, so it's time to start my annual summer knitting project. I haven't selected one just yet, but I'll get to that once I get back from my upcoming travels. Where am I going, you ask! To get married! If that isn't a lady-like topic, I don't know what is.
Despite how appropriate weddings are for a blog that covers all things femme, I won't put wedding stuff on this blog. We have a separate blog for that.
Today, I am hitting the streets in search of makeup for the wedding. Well, not the streets per se. The MAC store at the mall. I'm heading out in search of some gold and bronze shadows, some blush, some mascara (waterproof!), and perhaps some new brushes. I have never been all that interested in makeup, but since I have decided to paint my own face for the wedding I have become somewhat more interested in the virtual cornucopia of options out there. For the past fifteen years, I have been a mascara and eyeliner gal - no foundation, no powder, definitely no blush, and only occasionally some eyeshadow. This trip to the MAC store is going to be overwhelming.
I am also hitting the fabric store to look for flowy organza to hang from the top poles of our chuppah for the wedding. For those who don't know, a chuppah is an arbor-type thing, typically constructed for Jewish weddings but increasingly popular for your garden variety secular ceremony, like ours. We'll be draping organza around the perimeter, so it flows all around us while we seal the deal. Fabric stores, for those of us who don't yet sew (I'm learning!) are likewise intimidating. Piles and piles of fabric without any obvious organizational scheme. Easy to get lost, until the inevitable old-lady-in-bifocals rescues me.
Wish me luck.

Isn't "seal the deal" technically supposed to refer to what happens that night in bed? You won't be doing that under the chuppah, will you?
ReplyDelete...Or will you??
