Thank you, Target.

Thanking a faceless, national, corporate giant whose clothing is most likely produced through exploitative offshore labor practices is completely against most of what I believe in, but Target came to the rescue. Again. Thanks!

Yesterday I wandered into Target, dispirited by my recent failures at the mall (see below) but hopeful because Target has so rarely let me down. I had seen a cute, 40s-inspired floral dress a few weeks ago that looked promising, but I hesitated to buy it because it was $40 and I hadn't yet come up with the rehearsal dinner as an excuse to buy yet another dress. I thought I would try it on this time, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I even looked in the maternity section in case I misremembered where I saw it last time. No cute floral dress.

I gave up and tried on a couple dresses from the Go! collection but they were predictably ill-fitting - that line seems particularly tailored to fit underdeveloped 16-year-olds. Moving on from the dress search, I toured the lingerie department in search of something sexy but not too dear. You know: lace, not gingham. I found something (description withheld for honeymoon revelation) and on my way back to the dressing room to check the fit I saw the cute floral dress lying in the bin of dressing room returns! It fits very nicely, thanks.

Accessories were the only things missing in this equation, so I decided to wear my pink Steve Madden pumps and snagged a pair of orange earrings (to pick up the orange in the dress) and a silver necklace that looks like it's strung with a bunch of grapes. Difficult to explain, so here's a photo:

It was such a satisfying trip. Far better than my mall excursion, where I came away with no dress, no lingerie, and many delightful yet consolatory t-shirts. Thanks again, Target. Your cheap bounty has once again given me great pleasure.
